Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Bihar for three days, where he will address a public gathering in the Saran district and meet with intellectuals in Patna on Friday, as confirmed by leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to BJP officials, Shah held a meeting with senior party leaders in Patna on Thursday night to review preparations for the upcoming assembly elections.
A party leader mentioned, 'During the day, the Home Minister will speak at a public meeting in the Amanour and Taraiya assembly constituencies to support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidates. Following this, he will address a gathering of intellectuals at Gyan Bhawan in Patna.'
Strengthening NDA's Election Strategy
Shah's visit is perceived as a strategic move to bolster the NDA's election preparations ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
He dismissed speculations regarding rifts within the ruling NDA in Bihar, asserting that the alliance will contest the upcoming elections under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's leadership.
Future Leadership Decisions
In an exclusive interview with a television channel, Shah stated that the BJP and its allies would decide on the chief ministerial candidate after the election results are announced.
He expressed confidence that the NDA would break all previous records when the results are revealed on November 14.
Shah remarked, 'I am not the one to decide whether Nitish Kumar will be the chief minister or not. For now, we are contesting under his leadership. After the elections, all allied parties will convene to select their leader.'
Respecting Coalition Dynamics
He also revealed that after the 2020 assembly elections, Nitish Kumar had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the chief minister should come from the party with more seats.
Shah emphasized, 'However, we have always respected our coalition and appointed Nitish Kumar as chief minister based on his seniority and respect.'
